The Pilates Bootcamp workout taught by Andrea Marino Miller combines the key principles of Pilates core stability and the traditional style of bootcamp training. Core stability is the very essence of Pilates technique. It simply refers to making your center - or your core - solid and strong. Pilates Bootcamp workout will give you a strong and powerful body that is resistant to the everyday stresses of work and life.
This is a full body conditioning program which will lengthen and strengthen your muscles - with the added advantage of improving your muscle-to-fat ratio and correcting your posture.
Pilates Bootcamp kicks off February 22 and meets on Mondays for five weeks between 10 and 11 a.m. The cost for members is $45 with a $10 drop in fee and for the community, it is $55 and a $12 drop in fee.
Boot Camp for Men

This is a fitness challenge created just for guys who are willing to do whatever it takes to get in top physical condition. Want to become stronger, build stamina and melt away extra pounds? Join the JCC for a “MEN’S ONLY” Boot Camp - military style - intense circuit workout featuring intense conditioning and power moves.
Session 1I begins February 24 and meets for ten classes on Mondays and Wednesdays between 6 and 7 p.m. There is no class on March 29. The class is taught by Lisa Laurano and the cost is $100 for members and $130 for the community.
Teen Spinning

When it comes to exercise, teenagers are different. They like different music, a different atmosphere in class and they especially enjoy being with their peers. It’s important for young people to work out and spinning is a great way to achieve ultimate cardiovascular fitness. Whether your teenager needs to lose weight, get in better shape, or build strength, this class is a perfect fit. The Teen Spinning class is a great conditioning class that will help bring teens to the next level in sports ranging from track and football to hockey and lacrosse and soccer to basketball. And since an average 45-minute spin class will burn between 300 – 600 calories depending upon the individual, it is a great calorie-burning workout.
The class is taught by Maria Calla and is geared to teens between the ages of 12 and 16. It meets for four weeks on Tuesdays beginning March 2 between 4 and 5 p.m. The cost is $40 for members and $48 for the community.

Rosalita’s Puppets and “The Story of Purim” Performance on February 17

Parents and children are invited to a performance of “The Story of Purim” featuring Rosalita’s Puppets on Wednesday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the JCC. The show was created by Charlotte Anne Dore, an accomplished puppeteer and member of Puppeteers of America, the Boston Puppetry Guild and the international puppetry association UNIMA.

Calling Toddlers and Preschoolers

Registration is open for JCCNS Prime Time for Toddlers and Preschool programs for the 2010-2011 school year. The Early childhood Program at the JCC is accepting applications for September 2010. Prime Time for Toddlers is committed to providing quality care as well as helping each child develop to his/her fullest potential. Prime Time serves children 16 months to 2 years, 9 months between 9-11:45 a.m. for two, three or five mornings a week. The Preschool Program serves children 2 years, 9 months to 5 years between 9 a.m. and noon with a choice of two, three, four or five days a week. Preschool Plus program provides childcare and programs for children before 7:30-9a.m. and after regular preschool hours, noon to 6 p.m.
In addition, parents may sign up for the Masoret Program which has a special emphasis on the Hebrew language and vocabulary. Through the use of song, dance and repetition, Hebrew starts to become second nature. The Transition class is designed for the oldest 4 year olds that either miss the kindergarten cut off (age 5 by Sept 1) or a child who could use one more year in a pre-kindergarten readiness classroom. Early Childhood Programs at the JCC are licensed by Early Education and Care and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
